LIST OF FRANCHISES
My intention with this section of the site is to put together a complete as possible list of all the slasher franchise’s currently in existence. I’m classing anything with a sequel as a franchise so in some cases those I list here may just be made up of two films. As with the reviews, franchise’s starting with “The” or “A” will be listed under the first letter of the next word. For each film I’ll be listing the name, director and year of release.
I’ve decided not to include quite a number of different franchises both big and small for various reasons. In some cases this will be because the franchise may contain slasher elements but is generally seen under the more broad horror genre bracket. An example would be something like Saw. Other more obscure films that I considered ultimately didn’t make the list as I’m not able to verify at the moment if they are actually slashers. Alternatively perhaps the first film was a slasher but it is unclear if the sequels follow suit. Films that simply have a remake but not something that is classed as a sequel like for example Mother’s Day also won’t be included. Films with a rumoured sequel or sequel in production like Curse of the Slasher Nurse will only be added once/if said sequel comes to fruition. Some dubious ones have made the list but with a note attached to highlight them. At the bottom of the page I’ll list those films that were considered but at this time didn’t make the list for one reason or another.
I’ll do my best to expand and update the list when necessary. I’m sure there are many franchise’s I’m missing, in particular those of the very obscure low budget variety so if you know of any that I’ve overlooked then please let me know through the enquiries section or via twitter :)
#:
12 Deaths of Christmas: (2017)-James Klass
Mother Krampus 2: Slay Ride: (2018)-Eddie Lengyel
Note: As with several entries that you’ll see on this list this is not a proper franchise. I’ve only listed it as they are related by the alternative title of 12 Deaths which is Mother Krampus. As far as I know however they are not officially connected nor have much in common.
A:
All Hallows’ Eve: (2013)-Damien Leone (This is only loosely a slasher. It is more an anthology style film but contains slasher elements throughout and introduces the Art the Clown character.)
All Hallows’ Eve 2: (2015)-Bryan Norton plus 10 others as this is an anthology style film with different contributing directors to each segment. (This is not a slasher film at all and is much more so an anthology horror film than was the original. Art the Clown does not feature as far as I can recall. It is better known as All Hallows’ Eve: The Reaping in the UK).
Terrifier: (2018)-Damien Leone
Antropophagus: (1980)-Joe D’Amato (This is also known as The Grim Reaper)
Absurd: (1981)-Joe D’Amato
American Psycho: (2000)-Mary Harron.
American Psycho II: All American Girl: (2002)-Morgan J. Freeman
Axegrinder: (2006)-David Palmieri
Axegrinder 2: (2019/2020)-Dustin Ferguson
Axeman: (2013)-Jotson Theney
Axeman 2: Overkill: (2017)-Jotson Theney
B:
Blood Cult: (1985)-Christopher Lewis
Revenge: (1986)-Christopher Lewis
Bloody Murder: (2000)- Ralph E. Portillo
Bloody Murder 2: Closing Camp: (2003)-Rob Spera
The Graveyard: (2006)-Michael Feifer (This is not classed as an official sequel but is generally seen as part of the franchise).
The Boogey Man: (1980)-Ulli Lommel
Revenge of the Boogeyman: (1983)-Ulli Lommel, Bruce Pearn and Paul Willson
Return of the Boogeyman: (1994)-Deland Nuse
Boogeyman Redux: (2003)-Ulli Lommel (This is also known as Ulli Lommel’s Boogeyman 2: Director’s Cut).
Note: When Revenge of the Boogeyman was released on DVD it was not actually the 2nd film but instead a revised version of the original titled Bogeyman Redux which included a tiny amount of extra footage. This Redux/director’s cut version seems to be classed as its own film and is best watched as the third entry in the franchise as it’s a sequel of sorts to parts 1 and 2. Return of the Boogeyman is a confusing mess and best seen as being more independent from the others. That said I think they were maybe trying to say it was happening concurrently with the original. It ignores both Revenge and Redux.
Bunnyman: (2011)-Carl Lindbergh (This is confusingly titled Bunnyman Massacre in the UK)
Bunnyman Massacre: (2014)-Carl Lindbergh (This is titled Bunnyman Resurrection in the UK)
Bunnyman Vengeance: (2017)-Carl Lindbergh
C:
Cabin by the Lake: (2000)-Po-Chih Leong
Return to Cabin by the Lake: (2001)-Po-Chih Leong
Camp Blood: (1999/2000)-Brad Sykes
Camp Blood 2: (2000)-Brad Sykes
Within the woods: (2005)-Brad Sykes
Camp Blood: First Slaughter: (2014)-Mark Polonia
Camp Blood 4: (2016)-Dustin Ferguson
Camp Blood 5: (2016)-Dustin Ferguson
Camp Blood 666: (2016)-Ted Moehring

Ghost of Camp Blood: (2018)-Mark Polonia
Camp Blood 8: Revelations: (2019)-Dennis Devine
Candyman: (1992)-Bernard Rose
Candyman 2: Farewell to the Flesh: (1995)-Bill Condon
Candyman: Day of the Dead: (1999)-Turi Meyer
Cheerleader Massacre: (2003)-Jim Wynorski
Cheerleader Massacre 2: (2011)-Brad Rushing
Note: These Cheerleader Massacre films are as far as I can tell sequels in name only and have nothing else whatsoever in common. I doubt they are even officially related. The 2003 film is sometimes bunched in with The Slumber Party Massacre franchise and Spring Break Massacre while the latter has more in common with Chopping Mall featuring some kind of killer robotic creations.
Child’s Play: (1988)-Tom Holland
Child’s Play 2: (1990)-John Lafia

D:
Dark Harvest: (2004)-Paul Moore
Dark Harvest 2: The Maize: (2004)-Bill Cowell (Possibly not a slasher film).
Dark Harvest 3: Scarecrow: (2004)-Ben Dixon
Note: This franchise is a contentious one as the films seem completely unrelated with merely having the name in common. They were also all released strangely close together. In addition to perhaps not being officially related the second one doesn’t even sound like a slasher but I decided to include them as the other two at least appear to be slashers.
Dark Shade Creek: (2012)-David Mankey
Dark Shade Creek 2: (2014)-David Mankey
Dark Shade Creek 3: Trail to Hell: (2017)-David Mankey
Death-Scort Service: (2015)-Sean Donohue

The Fear: Resurrection: (1999)-Chris Angel
Fear of Clowns: (2004)-Kevin Kangas
Fear of Clowns 2: (2007)-Kevin Kangas

Final Destination 2: (2003)-David R. Ellis
Final Destination 3: (2006)-James Wong
The Final Destination: (2009)-David R. Ellis
Final Destination 5: (2011)-Steven Quale
Friday the 13th: (1980)-Sean S. Cunningham

Gingerdead Man 2: Passion of the Crust: (2008)-Silvia St. Croix
Gingerdead Man 3: Saturday Night Cleaver: (2011)-William Butler
Gingerdead Man vs Evil Bong: (2013)-Charles Band (This last one is possibly not a slasher but as it features the Gingerdead man character I thought I would include it).
Goreface Killer: (2002)-Jason Matherne
Goregasm: (2007)-Jason Matherne
Grimewave: Cockface III: (2013)-Jason Matherne
Grim Weekend: (2003)-Bob Willems
Mr. Jingles: (2006)-Tommy Brunswick
Jingles the Clown: (2009)-Tommy Brunswick
Note: This is a very contentious one as the first two films are only related by their alternative titles and the fact that they both feature killer clowns. Grim Weekend is also known as S.I.C.K while Mr Jingles is also known as 2 S.I.C.K. They are sequels in alternative name only however and not otherwise related. Jingles the Clown is actually a reboot or remake of sorts to Mr Jingles so again not a proper sequel.
Gutterballs: (2008)-Ryan Nicholson
Gutterballs 2: Balls Deep: (2015/2017?)-Ryan Nicholson (I was debating whether or not to include this as it seems the full version of the sequel was never released. I have read a review or two however for some sort of bootleg edition which is padded out with clips from a short film called More Dead Nude Girls. It doesn’t sound as if this bootleg edition is anywhere close to the same as what the true sequel was intended to be but as there is at least some sort of sequel which has seen the light of day I thought it best to list it here.

Killjoy 3: (2010)-John Lechago
Killjoy Goes To Hell: (2012)-John Lechago
Killjoy’s Psycho Circus: (2016)-John Lechago (I’m not sure if this last one or indeed any of the John Lechgo entries are actually slashers. In particular this circus film doesn’t sound as if it would be but I included it as it still seems to follow the Killjoy character). Edit: I've since seen this franchise in full and I can confirm that numbers 1, 2 and 3 are all slashers. 4 and 5 aren't really though they show a lot of continuity with previous films in the series with returning themes and characters.

The Scissors Massacre: (2008)-Kotaro Terauchi
Note: There seems to be more Slit-Mouthed woman films the most recent of which looks to be from 2014 titled Slit Mouth Woman in LA. I’m pretty sure that these additional films make up a separate franchise however to the two films listed above. There is very little information around regarding these other films so I’ve decided not to include them here as I’m not sure if they are slashers.

Sorority Slaughter 2: (1996)-Gary Whitson (There is very little information around about this film or indeed the original. This sequel sounds like a slasher mixed with a zombie film. Though I’m not 100% sure if it should be listed I decided to throw it into the mix).

Now for those films which didn’t make the franchise list. Some of these however may be added down the line once rumoured sequels come out or if after viewing them I decide they belong on the list after all.
*976 Evil, *Anatomy, *Axegrinder, *Axemas, *Children of the Corn, *Curse of the Slasher Nurse, *Don’t Fuck in the Woods, *Evil Dead Trap, *Hostel, *Mirror, Mirror, *The Purge, *Saw, *Scary Movie and *Small Town Massacre.
Note: There is a loose connection between Spring Break Massacre and Girls Gone Dead. You may have read that GGD is a sequel to SBM but I don't think this can really be said to be the case so I won't be including them here on this list. Though it says in the DVD extras that GGD was initially supposed to indeed be a sequel to SBM it later morphed into its own project and moved away from any connection with the earlier film. Having now seen both I can confirm that there are no similarities at all in terms of plot with the only thing the two films have in common being that they both feature Linnea Quigley in small roles (she doesn't however play the same character in both).
Casting the spotlight on the slasher genre
